ColecoVision

I can clearly remember the first time I saw a ColecoVision in action. I was on a holiday in the USA, in Los Angeles, and it was in a Toy's R Us in 1983 . It was running a demo of Donkey Kong, and my jaw fell to the floor. The graphics were so lifelike! Mario looked exactly as he did in the arcade! I asked myself, "How will graphics get any better than this!?". Sadly, I didn't get to go home with a ColecoVision that day. I had to go to my friends house and play there, and that we did. Hours were spent on Donkey Kong, Zaxxon, Turbo and Smurfs. Even more hours spent with the Atari expansion playing Atari 2600 games through the expansion module. A powerful system, built from off the shelf parts by the now defunct eighties giant, Coleco, makers of the Cabbage Patch doll. The ColecoVision never got to become the system it could have been. Soon after it's release, the crash of '83 occured, and the bottom fell out of the video games market, leaving Coleco, Mattel and even the mighty Atari running for cover. Today, flawlessly working ColecoVisions are getting harder and harder to find due to proprietary power supply issues, power switch and controller issues. Thanks to OSG, these are mere inconveniences. The determined gamer/collector can get a ColecoVision, and play the great arcade ports like Donkey Kong and Zaxxon, and lesser known beauties like Spy Hunter and Mr. Do's Castle. OSG can perform full AV upgrades (Composite, S-Video, Audio jacks) to ColecoVision systems, and can replace the internal BIOS IC, allowing the player to skip the annoying 12 second "ColecoVision Presents" splash screen delay with a simple press of the fire button. Power LED mods can be performed as well.
